Kilgore offensive leader Joe Davila and defensive stalwart Adrian Garcia captured superlative honors on the 16-4A All-District Boys Soccer Team, which was released earlier this week.
Voting was done by the district's coaches.
Davila, who tied a school single-season record for goals with 38 this season and broke the all-time assist mark (61), was named the district's offensive MVP. The senior forward also had 19 assists, just missing the single-season assist standard he had previously tied in 2003 (21).
Garcia, the Bulldogs' sweeper, collected defensive MVP accolades. He also scored seven goals and had five assists.
Newcomer of the year honors went to Pine Tree sophomore goalkeeper Matt Cain, who had 50 saves and allowed just 1.2 goals per game.
District champion Nacogdoches earned two superlative honors. Senior Brad Fields was named the league's overall Most Valuable Player and Farshid Niroumand received the coach of the year award.
Marshall's Orlando Moreno was selected the district's sophomore of the year.
Pine Tree had just one first-team selection, junior forward Tony Guillen (16 goals, 8 assists). Kilgore had two selections, senior midfielder Rudy Galvan (20 goals, 18 assists) and senior defender Luis Garcia. Selected from Henderson were junior forward Samual Arellano (24 goals, 8 assists), senior midfielders Chris Bounds (12 goals, 8 assists) and Erik Romero (5 goals, 7 assists), senior defender Gabriel Gutierrez and junior goalkeeper Jarrett Davis (8 shutouts).
Hallsville's first team picks were sophomore forward Conor Herterich (15 goals, 5 assists) and junior defender Merritt Grimm. Nacogdoches had six players named, senior forwards Tyler McCreary and Taylor Pankrantz, senior midfielder Victor Garcia, senior defenders Michael Rice and Matthew Nielson and senior goalkeeper Ty Tindell.
Named to the second team were: forwards Juliano Genenali (Jr.) of Hallsville, Israel Martinez (Soph.) of Marshall, Bobby Adamson (Jr.) of Nacogdoches and Kaleb Nix (Jr.) of Kilgore; midfielders Patrick Jimerson (Sr.) of Kilgore, Tim Belares (Sr.) of Henderson, Krisjon Phillips (Soph.) of Pine Tree, and Patrick Gavin (Sr.) and Francisco Rios (Sr.) of Nacogdoches; defenders Daniel Swaim (Sr.) of Kilgore, Jacob Willis (Sr.) of Henderson, Andrew Darville (Sr.) of Marshall, Tyler Howerth (Jr.) of Nacogdoches and Joseph Harris (Sr.) of Hallsville; and goalkeepers Greg Stavinoha (Sr.) of Hallsville and Everaldo Delmas (Fresh.) of Kilgore.
