Dragon soccer team tops PT, 3-1

The Nacogdoches Dragon soccer team defeated Pine Tree 3-1 in Longview Friday night.
Pine Tree scored an early goal to take a 1-0 lead, before the Dragons rallied.
Taylor Pankratz scored on an assist from Jared Wheeler to tie the game at 1-1.
Late in the half, Brad Fields scored on a penalty kick for a 2-1 lead.
Bobby Adamson scored the only goal of the second half on as assist from Pankratz.
The Dragons improved to 18-0 and 12-0 in District 16-4A. The team assured itself the district crown and has two games remaining before the playoffs.
The Dragons host Kilgore at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dragon Stadium and close the regular season Thursday against Center in Center.
“Everybody played hard,” NHS coach Farshid Niroumand said of the win over Pine Tree. “It was a very physical game. Pine Tree was trying to make the playoffs.
“Overall, I was pleased.”
