PT girls notch win in shootout

After two halves of scoreless action, the Pine Tree Lady Pirates finished off Nacogdoches 3-1 in a shootout to claim an important District 16-4A win Tuesday night at Pine Tree Stadium.

Pine Tree's Stephanie Casto, Amy Holman and Carolyn Leatherman converted goals in the penalty kick shootout, while goalkeeper Shelli Small blocked three shots by Nacogdoches to secure the win.

Pine Tree stays unbeaten in district (4-0) and moves to 12-3-2 on the season. The loss drops Nacogdoches to 2-2 in 16-4A play.

The Lady Pirates visit Jacksonville in a non-district match on Friday.

In junior varsity action, Pine Tree claimed a 2-1 win.
