Lady Pirates finish third in tournament

HIGHLAND PARK – Senior midfeilder Stephanie Casto scored 36 minutes into the first half to lead the Pine Tree Lady Pirates to a 1-0 victory over 10th-ranked Nederland Saturday in the Highland Park Soccer Tournament.

Casto took a throw in to the middle of the field from Jaclyn Friday, turned quickly and scored, sending her shot just out of the reach of the Nederland goalkeeper.

The Lady Pirates finished third in the tournament with 28 points behind Lake Travis (34) and Highland Park (30).

Leading the defensive effort for PT were Carolyn Leatherman, Hayley Grgurich, Berri Primo and Shelia Nefrady.

Stephanie Linch and Shelli Small split time at goal, combining for four saves.
