Pirates finish third in tourney

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS Jordan Dubois scored the equalizing goal, and Ryan Darr added the game-winner in a 2-1 Pine Tree victory over tourney host Birdville Saturday in the third-place game of the Omni-America Kick-Off Classic.
Birdville took the lead with a goal in the first half.
Dubois answered for the Pirates, using an assist by Nathan Lo to tie the match 1-1 at the 23-minute mark of the second half.
Darr's game-winning goal came off an assist by Jesse Reynolds. With the win, the Pirates, who entertain Jacksonville on Tuesday at Pine Tree Stadium, improve to 2-2.
Darr was named the game's MVP for his stellar play. The Pirates also received solid performances from defender Kyle Niehaus, forward Jonathan Zimicki and back-up goalkeeper Ed Aguilar.
Pine Tree goalkeeper Matt Cain was injured in the first half and was replaced by Aguilar. Combined, the Pine Tree goalkeepers recorded five saves.
The Pirates were also playing without injured midfielders Krisjon Phillips and Jace Estes.
In Friday's game, McKinney took four shots on goal and defeated the Pirates 3-0.
