For the second time in less than a week Longview and Pine Tree will meet on the soccer field, this for the championship of the Lady Lobo Invitational today at 5 p.m.

The Lady Lobos completed their run to the title match with a 3-2 win over Nacogdoches in a semifinal game Friday night at Lobo Stadium. Pine Tree won earlier over Henderson, 3-1.

The Lady Pirates edged Longview on Tuesday in the season opener for both teams, 3-2.

Longview was again led in scoring by Lyndsey Womack with two goals, giving her six in just three games. The Lady Lobos jumped out to a 3-0 lead and then held off the Lady Dragons.

Longview scored twice in the first six minutes of the game as Christine Brinkley ripped a long-shot goal from 32 yards out, and less than three minutes later Womack put back her own rebound for a quick 2-0 lead.

Kristen Wilbanks had gotten a long pass to Mattie Weatherspoon, who directed the ball to Womack as the junior forward had gotten one-on-one with Nacogdoches goalkeeper Katie Darden. The initial shot on goal was knocked down by Darden, but the ball got away and Womack was able to make a 180-degree spin and kick the rebound back into an open net with her left foot.

Weatherspoon was credited with the assist. The goal came with 35:12 to play in the half.

The Lady Lobos (2-1) extended their margin to 3-0 as Womack again sprinted free to score from eight yards out with 23:25 remaining in the first half. The assist went to Wilbanks.

Brinkley's goal came with just one minute, 58 seconds elapsed into the start of the match. It was unassisted.

Nacogdoches (1-1) scored with 52 seconds left before halftime as Abby Pool assisted Brandy O'Neal. The second goal, which came with 14:30 to play, narrowing the Lady Dragons' deficit to 3-2 as Haley Adams picked off a loose ball in front of the Longview goal.

Longview did outshoot Nacogdoches in goal, 23-10. Lady Lobo goalkeeper Katie Snell made seven saves.

|Pine Tree 3, Henderson 1|

Jaclyn Friday scored twice and Amy Holman converted a penalty kick to move the Lady Pirates (3-0) into today's finals with a 3-1 semifinal victory over Henderson.

Holman's goal on a penalty kick broke a 1-1 tie with 17:21 remaining in the match. The junior midfielder had broken free on a long pass by Georgina Cabrera, but was taken down inside the penalty box as she made her move toward the goal. Holman then beat Henderson goalkeeper Kim Cary with a rocket shot into the upper right-hand corner of the net.

Friday extended PT's advantage to 3-1 off an assist from Stephanie Casto. It was the second time in the game the two seniors had hooked up. Friday's goal came from 15 yards out with 14:17 showing on the clock.

The Lady Pirates' first goal came at the 33:15 mark of the first half as Friday broke away from the Henderson defense, catching up with Casto's pass and putting it past Cary from 18 yards out.

Henderson (3-1) tied the match early in the second half as Macy Phenix ripped a free kick from 22 yards away that eluded PT goalkeeper Shelli Small just under the crossbar. The goal came with 2:08 having elapsed.

Pine Tree outshot Henderson on goal 13-4. Small had a pair of saves, while Cary made eight.
